Vancouver Island Wild Crafted Products
My name is Alison Philp and I live and grew up in the beautiful Cowichan Valley. Over the past 12 years as a co-owner of a lavender farm and then working for a certified organic herb farm I have developed recipes for a large variety of health and body care products. In the Spring of 2016 it struck me that you don't need to own or work on a farm to make nice plant based products because wild plants often have better healing properties than the plants we cultivate and are readily available throughout the area.
The Going Wild business came into being quite organically, it hadn't been my intention to start a business when I first made the Face Cream (originally called Cancure Cream). I developed it because I was getting some sun damage and aging related (precancerous) issues on my face. The cream I had been using on my face was an all-natural product, and I really liked it, but the last time I went to buy it the price had shot up to $45 for 60ml. That's what inspired me to develop my own. So I started doing some research and came up with a recipe. I made a batch and started using it myself and seeing results. Family and friends were using it and also seeing great results for all kinds of skin conditions. So I started doing some craft fairs and markets and getting a lot more good feedback.
The full list of ingredients in the Face Cream are:
Distilled water, hemp seed oil, coconut oil, olive oil, grape seed oil, beeswax, cannabis, horsetail fern, calendula, chickweed, burdock root, yellow dock root, self-heal & lavender essential oil.
I started making the lotion because the formulation of the Face Cream is not only great for the face but also for the hands and other parts of the body where people are having skin issues. It's particularly good for eczema.
Last Summer I also developed an all-natural sunscreen lotion because the commercially produced products are just full of nasty ingredients. As a test I asked four friends to use it (and only it) when we went out on a boat trip on one of those hot, hot sunny days last summer. We were out for about 3 hours in the middle of the day and nobody got burned and everyone said their skin felt great.
The ingredients are:
Olive oil, coconut oil, zinc oxide, beeswax, raspberry seed oil, wild carrot seed oil & vanilla extract.
I also included a salve in my line of products because I have been making very effective healing salves for many years from wild-crafted plants.
The ingredients are:
Olive oil, grapeseed oil, beeswax, plantain, St John’s wort, yellow dock root, comfrey root, self-heal, yarrow, calendula, lavender essential oil.
I'm so happy that people are loving my products. If you are interested in trying them please contact me.
