The Friends of India Association is one of the pioneer community groups in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. This organization has, for more than 50 years celebrated contributions from India, and has greatly promoted cross-cultural understanding within the Province. Friends of India Association's constitution and mandate are of promoting multiculturalism and friendship among different cultural groups was established long before the development of Multiculturalism in Canada.

Friends of India Association is a non-profit organization, with the following objectives:

• To provide a forum for social, cultural, and educational activities
• To understand and promote multiculturalism in Newfoundland and Labrador
• To foster friendship between people of Indian origin and all the people from within the province

Some of our events and activities in the past have included:

• Scholarship to MUN, CONA and Marine Institute students,
• Financial assistance to victims of natural disasters, food bank drives, fundraising for clean water in developing countries,
• Fundraising for school lunch program, Single parents association of Newfoundland, and the Association for New Canadians.
