Incorporated in 1968, the Cariboo Regional District is a regional government that functions independently of the provincial government. Our region consists of 12 electoral areas (A through L) and four incorporated member municipalities, including 100 Mile House, Quesnel, Wells and Williams Lake. The Cariboo Regional District serves an estimated population of 63,000 residents and provides approximately 100 local government services for taxpayers including fire protection, emergency planning, environmental services and planning as well as library and recreation facilities.

Located in the BC Central Interior, the Cariboo Regional District straddles Highway 97 from 70 Mile in the south to five kilometres south of Hixon in the north, from the Cariboo Mountains in the east to the Coast Mountains in the west. The region covers an area of 80,262 square kilometres.
