Japanese Acupuncture in the Gatineau Hills and Ottawa
Ever evolving, my style is closely aligned with that of the "free form" Japanese palpatory approach, where it is crucial to find the live spots to treat. For me, it is equally crucial for the patient to experience the release or a change in quality (especially in the abdomen) of a reactive spot.
Two Japanese acupuncturists have been fundamental influences for me : Kiiko Matsumoto, who has helped form my preference for the dynamic, interactive feedback style, and Shudo Denmei, whose emphasis on using the meridians to treat structural and internal issues has informed my holistic approach to the body.
Music has also been an important influence for me in my practise. The art of listening and playing with others is fundamental in music, and I believe this translates well to the Japanese type of acupucture, where both the patient and the practitioner communicate with one another throughout the treatment to achieve a desired goal.
