Unique Yukon Wood - 867-536-7408

Unique Yukon Wood manufactures wood shelving, picture frames and furniture, using the most unique woods the Yukon Territory has to offer.

I was born in Montreal in 1963 and raised in Laval Quebec.
At the age of 27, I escaped the concrete jungle when I moved to the Okanogan valley in 1990 for a job picking fruit. Later that year I moved to Watson Lake, Yukon, to experience the wilderness.

My love of wood was born during my employment at Saber Timber, where I advanced from the scrag mill operator to bucker. Soon I was out in the bush searching for fascinating trees and bringing them home. For 12 years I worked a camp job - 3 weeks in and 3 weeks out, allowing me to me to explore many different regions of the north and the woods they contained during my time off.

My passion started with “Diamond Willow” which few have the will or capability to harvest in the Yukon’s roughest regions, where the most stunning pieces originate. In recent years I work more with Poplar Burls.

The trees I use require years of care while drying and curing to avoid damage and cracks, before using them... Each piece is coaxed from a rough tree through many hours of work. Many tools and techniques are involved in creating furniture from natural woods. My skills and knowledge continue to grow.

I have accumulated the equipment and wood inventory to bring the diverse wealth of Yukon woods to many…

I operate a wood shop in Watson Lake, Yukon and can ship my products anywhere.
