The Ukrainian Museum of Canada exists to acquire, preserve, study and interpret representative artifacts which depict the Ukrainian experience in Canada.
The Ukrainian Museum of Canada of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada was founded in 1936 in Saskatoon. It was Canada's first Ukrainian museum and served as a center dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and the preservation of Ukrainian heritage in Canada. From its humble beginnings and with much community support the museum has developed into one of Canada's major Ukrainian Collections.
Standing on the scenic banks of the South Saskatchewan River, the Ukrainian Museum of Canada presents an educational experience for all ages. Our permanent gallery tells the story of first wave Ukrainian immigrants to Canada; the story is augmented with artifacts ranging from clothing and textiles to pottery and musical instruments. Our special gallery houses a collection of paintings by renowned Ukrainian-Canadian artist William Kurelek, and be sure to check out our temporary exhibit that changes regularly.
