The Stiver School of Guitar provides instruction in guitar, bass, music theory and music school audition prep. Servicing the North Shore and Bowen Island

Stiver School of Guitar offers individual and shared lessons specifically focused on guitar. In addition to 60 min. private sessions, we will offer shared one hour sessions, where the students' level of ability is similar. We also offer one hour parent and child lessons, even where ability levels differ. The Parent-Child lessons and homework are carefully designed to use differing ability levels and draw on the parent as mentor during practice.

Individual lessons (Bowen) $25.00 per 30 mins. Monthly payment at $100.00 is available.
Shared lessons - $35.00 per 30 mins. Monthly payment at $140.00

North Shore - 1hr lesson at $50

Children’s Program:
Age 7 & under:
-rhythmic exercises
-introduction to time signatures
-learning to read the notes & follow a written chart
-basic technique

Children (Age 8 and up) and Adults:
Beginner:
-basic technique (left hand exercises, right hand picking)
-open chords
-rhythmic strumming
-reading music
-learn basic songs

Intermediate:
-barre chords
-more complex rhythmic strumming
-finger picking
-improved technique
-introduction to soloing
-reading music & intro to music theory
-songs in different styles


Advanced:
-music theory (chord/scale relationships)
-chord progressions & inversions
-soloing strategies
-improved technique
-performance tips
-songs in different styles
-composition
