News and information about the St. Andrews Arts Council's programs and events.
The St. Andrews Arts Council, Inc., (SAAC) was established in 1986, in partnership with the New Brunswick Community College/St. Andrews and is dedicated to providing educational and performance opportunities for students from beginner to professional through the St. Andrews Summer School for the Performing Arts, the for-college-credit International Global Studies Program, the annual student showcase: Gala Festival Orchestra Concert and the Festival of the Performing Arts.
The Summer School offers performing arts courses, master classes and workshops in opera, voice, choir, drama, dance, and instrumental music. The International Aria Competition and Piano Concerto Competition are held each year giving young artists from around the world the opportunity to further their musical careers and perform with a professional orchestra at the Gala Festival Orchestra Concert.
The International Global Studies Program (IGS) offers immersion courses which may be taken for college credit or audited through university residencies in St. Andrews. Collaborations between Canadian arts organizations, performing artists and community residents and IGS program participants are an integral part of the Global Studies Program. The St. Andrews Arts Council works with each institutional partner to facilitate collaborative projects and coordinates program support services, facilities, adjunct professors, performance venues, accommodations and recreational activities.
The Festival of the Performing Arts Festival runs from May through September with an array of recitals, concerts and theatrical productions providing performance opportunities for Summer School for the Performing Arts students, faculty and internationally recognized guest artists.
