Sparrow Lake United Church Camp (SLC) offers an unsurpassed outdoor experience in a Christian atmosphere.
At Sparrow Lake Camp we offer a traditional overnight camp program with a twist. You can explore the various camp program options and activities offered by visiting the other pages in the "What we offer" drop-down menu.
There are a number of activities for campers to choose from. Our main activity areas are Swimming, Canoeing, Kayaking, Sailing, Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Discovery, Sports and Games, and Challenge. More information on these activities can be found by navigating through the "What we offer" tab,
On the first full day of camp, every camper will visit each activity, or resource area, to experience the program offered there. This gives them the benefit of experience that evening when they choose the 5 activity sessions that they will visit on regular camp days for the rest of camp. Each cabin is also assigned a cabin session every day which allows them to again visit all resource areas throughout the rest of camp.
A highlight of every camp session is the overnight trip where campers sleep out in tents with their cabin group. The sites are located both on and off camp property and are accessed either by hiking or by canoeing.
One day of the session is designated as Special Day. This is a themed program that often includes fantasy, mystery and surprise! Every session, the theme for the day is completely different. In the past we have had Dr. Seuss days, Peter Pan Day, Survivor: The Orillian Adventure Day, Save the Camp Day, Choose Your Own Adventure Day, etc. This is often the day the campers look forward to the most at SLC and we always keep it a surprise! You just never know what the day might bring!
On Sunday we have a more relaxing day with a sleep in (till 9:00 am!) , breakfast, chapel (approximately 40 minutes in the same format as our evening vespers), a camp wide game, lunch, another afternoon of theme events (for example, a water carnival involving a free dip, volleyball with a fire hose, canoeing, and fun fair activities involving water) and an evening campfire.
