Founded in 1968, The New Minas Volunteer Fire Department is a 100% volunteer fire service, on call 24/7 to serve the New Minas fire protection area.
We operate with a modern fleet of seven pieces of fire apparatus, three water rescue craft and an all terrain rescue/wildland firefighting vehicle from one central station on Jones Rd.
We average between 200-300 calls for service per year including, structural firefighting, vehicle extrication and medical first response. Together with neighbouring Departments we also participate in technician level Hazardous materials response, high angle rope rescue, water rescue and dive team operations.
Our department also has a dedicated auxiliary force that assists with fundraising efforts and provides support during large scale incidents to our firefighters.
In support of our efforts we host a variety of fundraisers throughout the year including bingo every Monday & Friday evening starting at 7pm at our station.
