Mission Community Foundation believes in a simple concept. People working together can make a difference for the community of Mission.
Mission Community Foundation was founded in an Act of Legislation in 1987. William (Bill) Harris, a former mayor of Mission saw a need in the community for a charity to accept funds bequeathed by community members. The funds would remain in perpetuity for the betterment of the Mission Community. Mission Community foundation received its first bequeath from the estate of Margarety Erskine, in the amount of $228,000. Many other contributions followed from private citizens and service clubs.
Now our assests are over 2 million dollars and only the interest is spent. The capital donation always remains in perpetuity.
Mission Community Foundation is a registered charity and is able to issue tax receipts for donations $10.00 and over.
