We are a life skills/development series of workshops that are fun and interactive. We have very special teachers, ask us about them!
What is EAL?
To put it simply, Equine Assisted Learning is a learner based educational experience with horses.
More specifically, EAL is an effective approach to human development that encourages individual and team growth.
Participants engage in objectively driven exercises and find themselves learning valuable life skills in a fun and exciting atmosphere while working with horses. Legacy Equine’s learning program places emphasis on its BuildingBlock ™ curriculum of facilitating life skills through positively reinforced interaction with the horses.
Why Horses?
Horses are tough and steadfast dance partners. Horses consistently react to stimulus provided by participants. Horses do not judge but they constantly assess, horses give INSTANT and honest feedback. Learning to listen to what horses have to say is powerful and can spur the answer to individual change. Horses do not overthink a participants’ motive but they DO challenge their behavior and leadership.
How can EAL help your team of employees?
Horses reveal the hidden dynamics of teams so that they can be effectively managed. It's the truest of honesty as to identify individual and team’s qualities and what they may or may not be showing. The horse can discern and give honest feedback as they know no other way.
Much like horses, people look for strong leadership and mutual trust and respect is only given and reciprocated once there is a strong leader to follow. Using horses as a corporate team building tool can give business leaders the chance to learn how to be an authentic leader; a leader that people will follow and trust. It has been proven that the more senses that are engaged, the greater the likelihood that new learning will be retained. What is learned is important however, what is remembered is priceless. Legacy Equine and EAL is a unique and effective strategy and could be that missing tool that every Company needs at some point in its growth and evolution. Legacy Equine will work with you and your team to customize a learning program that focuses on your key core competencies that will help your employees become more successful.
How can EAL help your Students?
Albert Wight studies methods of education and concluded a need for change from the traditional classroom format to an educational format called “participative method “which focuses on the experiential process of learning rather than the mere transmission of information (presenters). EAL is nationally certified and regulated. Working with horses creates a unique memory that causes the attendee to remember the training far longer than if sitting in 'just‐another‐classroom'.
Equine Assisted Learning is already being utilized by the Calgary Board of Education, Siksika and children with learning challenges.
