Heat Bank Haliburton County is a committee of volunteers which provide services to individuals in an emergency home heating crisis.
Under the umbrella of the Central Food Network, we assist households across the County (with wood, fuel or hydro emergencies) to keep the heat on.
Wood can be difficult to coordinate on an emergency basis in terms of delivery and finding adequate amounts that are properly seasoned. By building a network of trained volunteers with access to regional wood storage locations with year-long promotion, we are hoping to increase access for those in need as well as reducing the work of frontline community workers so that they can focus on other priorities. The end result is a community brought together by the common interest of ensuring we are able to keep as many people warm as possible.
Purpose
Heat Bank Haliburton County's objective is to increase the supply of and ease of access to emergency firewood / heat for vulnerable residents of Haliburton County.
