The council was founded to strengthen the link between the Greater Sudbury Police Services and the youth population in our community. A central focus of the group is to promote youth involvement in the Sudbury community while providing a safe and positive platform that youth can use to have their voice heard. Not only will their voices be heard by the community but those central ideas will be used by the council to create programs that actively work to solve the problems facing youth. Each year CYAC organizes and facilitates Courage to Stand, a conference attended by Sudbury students that deals with a range of social topics. Some of these topics include education, mental illness and opportunities for youth development. The council prides itself on being made up of a diverse group of individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
