The Elizabeth Inkster Memorial Award is created to encourage and support islanders of Haida Gwaii who wish to develop their skills in music and the arts.
Elizabeth Inkster was a long time resident of Haida Gwaii who was an accomplished singer/songwriter and produced her own cd. She was one of the founding members of the Edge of the World Music Festival and was a key member of the Haida Gwaii Arts Council for many years. Her greatest joy was being involved in, contributing to, and helping others to succeed in anything musical on these islands. As well, Elizabeth was an excellent weaver and in earlier years had made her living weaving professionally.
