Dorchester Sandstone - +1 506-531-1404

This Dorchester Sandstone site is dedicated to document the historical use of Dorchester Sandstone, first introduced to the New York City markets in 1854.

This Dorchester Sandstone Facebook page aims to create a data exchange, where conservators, restoration architects, the masonry trade, historians and students may freely access, retrieve, contribute and exchange information about Dorchester Sandstone, an historically important freestone.

The Dorchester quarries were reopened in 1985. Dorchester Sandstone is once again available as an original source replacement stone for use in the restoration of Landmark buildings throughout the New England and Canadian markets.

The Dorchester Union Freestone Company and
Dorchester Olive Freestone Company
once owned /operated the Dorchester quarries from 1856 to 1904.
