Who We Are and What We Do:
Community Living Essex County, a not-for-profit charitable organization, has been committed to assisting people of all ages who have an intellectual disability and their families throughout Essex County since 1961.
The goals of Community Living Essex County are that all persons can live in a state of dignity, share in all elements of living in the community, and have the opportunity to participate effectively.
Community Living Essex County envisions a society where everyone belongs, has equality, respect, and acceptance. The gifts, uniqueness, and innate value of each individual are celebrated, supported, and acknowledged as essential to the completeness of the whole community.
We help the community develop its capacity to welcome and support people who have not always had the same opportunities as the rest of us to participate in community life in meaningful, productive ways.
Over 600 employees and many dedicated volunteers join together at Community Living Essex County to ensure that quality supports and opportunities are provided to people with intellectual disabilities in Essex County.

We support over 600 individuals of all ages as they develop their capacity to live, learn, work, and participate in the community.
Services and supports include supported living, day supports, employment supports, family supports, and special services at Home.
We are a non-profit agency, incorporated in 1961, and employ over 600 employees and many volunteers. We are a Registered Charitable Organization.
The majority of our funding for services comes from the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services. Additional funding is secured through donations and a variety of fundraising events, including the annual Ruthven Apple Festival and Jingle Bell Run/Walk and Wheel.
