Located a mere 5 minutes outside of Beautiful Nakusp, BC, Charlie Horse Equine Adventures offers a farm fix for everyone! Offering Trail Rides, Riding Lessons (for all skill levels), Summer Horse Camps, Pony Rides and Parties, and a petting zoo!

TRAIL RIDES
Our specialty is gorgeous, woodsy trail rides on charming horses. We cater to your skill level and have options for newbies through to advanced riders. Able to take groups of up to four riders (3 beginners) out on the trail, you will surely experience the wondrous balance between serenity and thrill as you travel on horseback through the mountains.

We offer a few trail options:
1) The Charlie Horse Trail - approximately 1.5 hour ride through a thick wooded forest, mossy embankments, and splashing through a little creek. This ride is close to home (the Farm) and a good workout - up or down - for the horses!
2) The Box Lake Trail - approximately 3 hour ride to the pristine Box Lake, where most of our horses will take you for a dip, if that is your fancy! This trail is slightly wider, more flat, and breezes through the Box Lake Rec Site where you can show of your riding skills to campers!
*Box Lake Trail is a great adventure to include a picnic in. We can stop at the Rec Site for restroom and lunch break.
3) The Scenic Power Trail - approximately 2 hour ride along the powerline clearing that parallels - albeit from a birds eye view - Highway 6 and Arrow Lakes. This ride has THE BEST viewpoints and amazing photo opportunities! Travel in style as you take in the breathtaking view of Nakusp and Upper Arrow Lake.
4) Pony Rides - Dreamer, our resident unicorn pony (we like to paint her pretty colours) loves to take small children on pony rides around the farm. Her specialty is exuding patience as kids groom her, braid her mane and tail, and give her extra special attention!

RIDING LESSONS
Charlotte Ruse - owner of Charlie Horse Equine Adventures - has been teaching riding to children and adults since 2003. She offers group lessons or private lessons, to riders of all levels. Additionally, Charlotte is able to teach both Western and English style riding. Riding lessons can be done on one of our local herd members, or you may use your own horse (if you are lucky enough to own one!)

HORSE CAMPS
Summer is a great time to enrol your children in a Horse Camp for Kids. These day camps usually run for 3-5 days and are catered to the group of students enrolled. The camp includes lessons in horse care and grooming, basic horsemanship experiences, horse and tack vocabulary, and of course LOTS of horse riding in the arena, where students have lessons based on their current skill level. Camps usually run twice in the summer months; one in July and one in August. Contact us for more details!

PETTING ZOO and PARTIES
Not up for a ride (yet!)? Come and visit the menagerie of farm animals that reside at Charlie Horse Farms. We have pigs (Spud owns the place), goats, chickens, ducks, Earl the Turkey, and rabbits.
