Buckhorn Daycare and Nursery School supports the families in the community of Buckhorn and surrounding areas.

The Buckhorn Daycare and Nursery School is licenced and inspected for quality assurance by the Early Learning Division of the Ministry of Education, the Peterborough County City Health Unit, and the Trent Lakes Fire Department. We are financed by parents’ fees, Peterborough Children’s Services, the Province of Ontario, and the proceeds from fundraising activities. Additional funding is available in the form of subsidies from the City of Peterborough & the City of Kawartha Lakes Children’s Services.

The school is run by Registered Early Childhood Educators and the program is designed to enrich the learning experiences of 6 weeks – 12 year olds.

Children are viewed as competent, capable, and curious. “How Does Learning Happen” (Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years) will be the framework for program development, teaching, and practice. It is intended to strengthen the quality of programs, and ensure high quality experiences that lead to positive outcomes in relation to children’s learning, development, health and well-being.
